GUEST POST: FIVE THINGS BLOGGING TAUGHT ME

Hello everyone! This is Nabeeha Jameel from the BrainStorms Blog. A huge thank you to Geet for having me over on her blog and for letting me do a post on it as well. I have been blogging for approximately about a year now. I started during May last year when my Cambridge O-level exams were suddenly cancelled and I needed some platform to distract myself from all the uncertainties that were hitting me at that time, and that is how BrainStorms was born. Over the past year I have learnt a lot with regards to blogging and blogging has managed to teach me plenty too. Hence, here is my list of all the things my blog managed to teach me.

1. I CAN UNAPOLOGETICALLY BE MYSELF

My blog is my safe space on the internet. When I started blogging no one on the platform exactly knew me, I was just another stranger from another part of the world, using her platform to talk of topics that she cared about. No one knew how I looked, no one knew my personality, I was just the author of BrainStorms. The thought that no one knew me in itself is sort of comforting because that meant I could be who I want, say what I want and not be judged.

2. SUCCESS IS NOT AN OVERNIGHT JOURNEY

Blogging taught me that success will take time, no matter how much of effort I put in, I am not going to reach the stars overnight. With WordPress it takes a while for you to receive views and building a huge following takes years. Blogging taught me patience plus showed me that for me to succeed it’s going to take time.

3. PEOPLE CARE

Honestly, blogging and opening up to the blogging community has helped a lot. Because I understood that I am not alone, and there are people around the world who could relate to what I write about. Plus, they care. Some of followers have been following my blogging journey since the beginning and it makes me believe that there are people out there who care. My readers.

4. PUSHED ME TO DIGITALLY DESIGN USING CANVA

As an artist who loved drawing mandalas, I have always wanted to give digital designing a go. But I was a teeny bit afraid that I wouldn’t be able to do it, since I had zero experience. Blogging encouraged me to take that step and overcome my fear for the sake of my Featured Images, and now I am pretty confident designing things on Canva!

5. LEARNT ABOUT DIFFERENT CULTURES AND MET DIFFERENT PEOPLE

This a such an advantage with regards to blogging. I have people from 97 countries who have visited my blog and a long-term goal would be to have visitors from every country in the world, hopefully. I have read the blogs of many other people from different nationalities, getting to know them and their cultures has been such a magical journey. Most of the people on WordPress are very supportive and positive which makes the blogging culture the more magical.

Those are the things that blogging taught me within the span of a year. Has blogging taught you anything specific? Let us know in the comment section down below. I would like to end this post by thanking Geet again for giving me this opportunity! Geet wrote a post for my blog, so if you want to check that out, then head over to BrainStorms!
