Are my friends even real?-

Hahah, everyone’s following the “Inspired from Shakespeare’s ‘Friends and Flatterers'” thing so I decided to post mine too!

So, well I took my inspiration from this poem. I felt that, we all have some fake friends, who just pretend and well yeahh. That’s why I wrote this one.

The poem ‘Friends and Flatterers’ is written by William Shakespeare, who is considered the greatest playwright of all time. The speaker warns the reader not to fall prey to flatterers and one should know one’s worth to avoid becoming a victim of flattery.

A loyal mind, or an appearance sleek?
Who are the real you underneath?
A flatterer, bold and pretentious,
Or a true friend, the most precious?

Flatterers, everywhere, ostentatious and falsely kind,
I never know what goes on in your mind,
Real friends are the true ones, hard to find.
What if I leave the best ones behind?

Everyone shall be your friend,
But only a few would stick till the end,
Few, who would be through thick and thin,
And the flatterers will remain like they have been.

Flatterers are with you when good things arise,
But disappear when the fortune frowns upon,
For failure and impecunious people are all they despise,
All they would do is leave you with deceit and cries.

True are those, who would comfort you,
And wipe your tears away,
True are the ones who will never abandon,
Faithful and loyal, they will always stay.

Flatterers don’t miss you when you were gone,
They miss you when you move on,
True ones will always be happy for you,
They would even kill for you.

Think twice before choosing,
Between a friend and flatterer,
A flatterer would only hurt,
But a friend would be the cure.
